Inside The Black Shed.

The Black Shed is an award-winning cabin for two on a working croft at Skinidin, four miles from Dunvegan in north-west Skye, in the foothills of MacLeod’s Tables with views down to Loch Dunvegan. Blair Hunter and her family built it in 2008 to replace the croft’s worn-out sheep shed, and they replaced a shed with a shed: timber-clad, painted black and topped with corrugated iron, so it sits on the hillside as if nothing had changed.

Inside Lochview.

Lochview looks across Loch Dunvegan on Skye towards the Outer Hebrides, a modern house for four with the view in every room. The open-plan living space centres on a double-sided glass-fronted wood stove, with a cinema-style screen, a granite-topped kitchen island and big glass doors onto the garden. There are two bedrooms, one in soft pink and one in powder blue, each with a super-king bed and a shower room of its own: one is lined in scalloped gold tiles, the other in metallic mermaid-style tiles.
