Isle of Skye
The Black Shed
Introduction
The Black Shed is the perfect place to relax and unwind. Simple, thoughtful design, comfortable furnishings, and a wood-burning stove keep you cosy and warm even in the harshest of Skye weather. The Scottish landscape is the perfect antidote to a busy modern life, a chance to slow down, or stop altogether, to connect with the simpler things in life, breathe and relax.
That’s why we’ve carefully considered every detail within The Black Shed, keeping the interior simple yet tastefully curated so you can unwind and disconnect. Modern appliances and furniture provide efficient functionality where needed. But the inherited, handcrafted and vintage pieces, with their unspoken stories, local art, natural textiles and ceramics, breathe real life into The Black Shed.

Location
The Black Shed sits on a working croft in northwest Skye, around ten minutes’ drive from Dunvegan. It’s reached via a single-track road and a short private drive, with open views across the croft towards Loch Dunvegan and the hills beyond.
Good to know
The Black Shed is usually let on a week-long basis, with stays running Saturday to Saturday. Check-in is from 5pm and check-out is by 10am. It’s ideally suited to two people, with a king-size bed and an additional day bed in the study. The cabin is not suitable for children or pets, making it best for adults looking for a quiet retreat. The setting is remote, at the end of a track, so it’s worth arriving in daylight if possible and planning ahead for supplies in Dunvegan, around ten minutes away by car.
What's nearby
A short drive brings you to Dunvegan, where there’s a bakery, small shops, and places to eat, along with Dunvegan Castle and its gardens. The surrounding area is well suited to walking straight from the door, with quiet tracks and hills close by. The north and west of Skye are within easy reach for day trips, including coastal walks, waterfalls, and sea cliffs, with regular chances to spot wildlife along the way.
