The Charleston Bar in Dundee has reopened, five years after Storm Arwen took its roof off.

After a full refurbishment it has food, live music, sport on the screens and a new beer garden, and its function suite opens in October.

The High Mill at Verdant Works, in Dundee, holds a Boulton and Watt beam engine from 1801 that once worked in the city.

The restored beam engine is on loan from Dundee City Council. It is one of the oldest and largest items in the Verdant Works museum, a former jute mill.

Dundee was once called the 'she town', because women outnumbered men three to one in its mills.

In the years the city was known as Juteopolis, an estimated 50,000 families lived on jute, the coarse fibre spun and made into sacking. Most of the hands in the mills were women. Verdant Works, a former jute mill in the city, now tells their story as Scotland's jute museum.
