Eating and drinking in Scotland.

Paesano Pizza West End, Glasgow

In short

Places to eat, from old coaching inns to a slice shop by the sea. The oldest is the Drovers Inn at Inverarnan, first established in 1715, at the top of Loch Lomond. The Free Company sits at the foot of the Pentland Hills, and Civerinos has a slice shop on the Portobello promenade. Away from the cities the list thins quickly, and a good number of the ones out there are attached to somewhere to sleep, like the Champany Inn at Linlithgow or the Harbour House at Stranraer. Booking ahead is the difference between eating and driving on.

A family-run ice cream, dessert and sweetie shop on Stonehaven's beachfront, known for its quirky style, loaded toppings and ice cream made with local produce. From our write-up of Aunty Bettys
