Angels with Bagpipes

A restaurant on the Royal Mile opposite St Giles', serving small and larger plates from a modern Scottish kitchen every day.

Welcome

On the Royal Mile, across the street from St Giles', a cream-painted front with a pair of white angel wings etched on its glass doors belongs to Angels with Bagpipes.

The name comes from the cathedral opposite, where a carved angel playing the bagpipes looks down from the roof of the Thistle Chapel.

It is an independent, family-run restaurant. The menu is built from small and larger plates made for sharing and trying things, cooked from seasonal Scottish ingredients. The dining rooms run back from the street under low lights, and in summer there are a few tables outside on the setts.

Angels with Bagpipes is open every day from noon until nine at night, and tables can be booked ahead, which helps in the festival months.
