An Tigh Seinnse is the pub at the harbour in Portnahaven, at 11 Queen Street on the north side of the inlet, where the road out along the Rhinns of Islay comes to an end.

It is a traditional pub, often with a cosy fire, serving homemade dishes, fresh local seafood and takeaway coffees, and its own page lists dining in, takeaway and outdoor seating.

Seals pull themselves out onto the rocks in the harbour when the tide is right, and across the water lie Orsay Island and the lighthouse. Come for lunch after the last seven miles of single track from Port Charlotte, or take a coffee down to the water. The pub said in October that it opens at noon, it posts each day's opening time on its Facebook page, and the number to ring is 01496 860725.

Getting there
The 450 bus links Bowmore and Portnahaven, Monday to Saturday and not on Sunday; Islay Info gives the bus hours as 7am to 6pm. By road, the last seven miles from Port Charlotte are single track. Ferries from Kennacraig sail to Port Askaig while Port Ellen is closed for upgrades (from 2 June 2026, expected to reopen in 2029), and Loganair flies from Glasgow to Islay Airport.
