Big Burns Supper

Big Burns Supper takes over Dumfries each January, blending Burns Night tradition with a three‑week winter fringe festival. Around 150 events unfold across more than 30 venues, from the Spiegeltent in the festival village to historic halls and streets. Acts range from cabaret, comedy and theatre to folk concerts and community Burns Suppers. Highlights include the Dumfries Carnival weekend, live broadcast of Burns Night ceremonies and experimental dinners such as supper on a bus or underwater. Audience sizes vary from small family teas to packed main shows. Nights end with voices and footsteps echoing through quiet town lanes as the lights dim.
