Introduction

The junction of the High Street, Castle Street and Buccleuch Street is home to the Robert Burns Statue, carved by Italian craftsmen in memorial of the immortal poet. Unveiled in 1882 by the Earl of Rosebery. The statue stands proudly ahead of the Burgh Church of Dumfries.
