Twelve Apostles Stone Circle

Add to List

Introduction

A scheduled ancient monument, this Neolithic stone circle is comprised of eleven stones with one removed. In the 18th century, local tradition suggested they were to represent Jesus’ twelve apostles – with Judas the twelfth removed stone. The largest stone circle on mainland Scotland, it’s also the seventh-largest in the UK.
