A gallery shop and cafe on King Street in Castle Douglas since 1998, with books, crafts and jewellery and a cafe with a garden.
Just off King Street in Castle Douglas, Designs has been a gallery shop and cafe for twenty-eight years.
It is easy to walk past the lane that leads to it, so keep an eye out.
The shop is full of well-chosen things: books, which it also sells online, ceramics, textiles, jewellery, cushions, bags, kimonos and cards, with work by artists such as Linda McDonald, Shimara Carlow and Alan Ardiff. The cafe serves good food and coffee, with plenty of vegetarian and gluten-free choices and cakes that visitors call amazing. There is a conservatory, and a garden where pets are welcome.
Designs opens from Monday to Saturday, from ten until four. It is a lovely place to linger over lunch in the middle of a day in Castle Douglas.
