Overview

Inside, the cabins are arranged around a striking open-plan space beneath soaring cathedral ceilings. The living area flows into a dining and kitchen space and is anchored by a centrally placed wood-burning stove. Interiors are crafted from carved cedar, warmed by leather sofas, natural wool rugs, and hand-selected furnishings. Some cabins feature mezzanine sleeping pods—elegantly carved log bunk beds that add visual drama—while larger properties offer separate bedrooms with flexible double or twin bed arrangements. Every detail has been skilfully attended to: picture windows frame the valley, stone thresholds echo the land, and cabins have small exterior seed and grain stations to draw wildlife close.

Set the Scene

From the cabin’s deck, guests can look across the glen toward the river, with wild deer frequently venturing close, and red squirrels and pine martens exploring under the trees. The cabins run entirely on estate-generated sustainable power—micro-hydro sources electricity, with underfloor heating resting on biomass boilers—an approach that makes the cabins feel self-reliant and low-impact. Water arrives from local springs, and wastewater is carefully managed. Grass roofs change hues with the season, drawing attention upward and softening the structure in its natural setting. In the soft evening light, the cabins dimly reflected in the land as it settles into the dusk.

Facilities & Services

Each cabin features a fully equipped kitchen, underfloor heating, log burner, free Wi-Fi and smart TV. Select cabins include private saunas. Location

Eagle Brae sits on a hillside in Strathglass, about 20 miles west of Inverness. It's 40 minutes from Inverness Airport and train station. While feeling remote, it's well-positioned for exploring the Highlands, with scenic routes connecting you to Glen Affric, Loch Ness, and beyond.

Good to know

Eagle Brae operates on a two-night minimum with seasonal variations. The cabins’ eco systems rely on low-carbon technologies—micro-hydro turbines, biomass boilers, grass roofs, spring water—but they are fully rigged for modern living. Some cabins include private sauna rooms, though there’s no shared spa building. If travelling with young children or guests needing accessible routes, check cabin layouts since mezzanine stairs and steep decking are common. Dogs are welcome, but this needs to be flagged in advance. Grocery delivery and wine pairing services reduce the need for frequent trips, sustaining the quiet experience.

What's nearby

Guests can arrange on-site activities such as guided wildlife safaris, clay pigeon shooting, canoeing on the River Glass or Farrar, whisky tasting with local distillery pairings, mountain biking and even dog-sledding during winter months. For more traditional day trips, the area offers coastal excursions to Lochinver, Dornoch or Cannich; castle and distillery visits in Beauly; outings to Loch Ness or the Black Isle. Wildlife is ever-present—eagles, deer, otters—so binoculars are never far away. Families often build their days around cabin-based life: hot porridge in the morning, afternoons wandering upland or shore, and evenings spent cooking together around the stove
