Big Bear Bakery

A family-run bakery with shops in Battlefield and Partick, open every day, baking sourdough, pastries, pies and celebration cakes since 2007.

Welcome

Big Bear Bakery likes to call itself the worst kept secret in the Southside, and its shop in Battlefield has the queues to prove it.

It's a small family bakery run by Ian and Dominique, who have been baking cakes since 2007, opened the Battlefield shop on Sinclair Drive in 2018 and added a second in Partick, on Dowanhill Street, in 2022. Both shops now open every day. The shelves change each week as new flavours come out of the bakery: sourdough loaves, crisp croissants, pastel de nata and brookies, with pies, sausage rolls, sandwiches and focaccia on the savoury side, plus vegan and gluten-free bakes. There's coffee for the road, and celebration cakes to order. Check its Instagram stories for the day's menu before you set off, or pre-order on its website and collect on a Friday. From Battlefield, Queen's Park is a short walk away, so take your bag of bakes there for a picnic.
