The Glad Café is a café, bar and arts venue on Pollokshaws Road in Shawlands, on the south side, run as a community interest company, and it describes itself as a community built on creativity, hospitality and culture, with a social conscience.

Behind a black front with its name in white, it is a laid-back, bohemian place to spend a day.

By day it is an all-day café, with breakfasts of black pudding, sausage, beans and sourdough, and plates to share. As the evening comes on it gets livelier: there are wood-fired pizzas, trays of sharing food with a cocktail on the side, and the bar fills up under a neon sign that spells out GLAD. The venue hosts gigs, from local bands to touring acts, along with other arts events through the year. The rooms are warm and rough-edged, with wooden tables, brick walls and crates of records and books. The Glad Café opens every day from eleven, ten at the weekend, until eleven at night, and midnight on Friday and Saturday.

The Glad Café opens Monday to Thursday from 11am to 11pm, Friday from 11am to midnight, Saturday from 10am to midnight and Sunday from 10am to 11pm.
