Scotland's national football stadium in Mount Florida, the world's largest venue when it opened in 1903, with the Scottish Football Museum and the oldest national trophy in the world.

Hampden Park in Mount Florida, on the south side of Glasgow, is Scotland's national football stadium.

When it opened in 1903 it was the largest venue in the world, built for more than 100,000, and it was enlarged in 1927 and 1937 until it could hold 150,000. In 1937 a Scotland and England match drew 149,145, still the European record for an international.

The great nights are part of the fabric. In 1960 more than 127,000 watched Real Madrid beat Eintracht Frankfurt 7 to 3 in the European Cup Final, and in 2002 Zinedine Zidane scored his famous goal in the Champions League Final here. Today it holds 51,866.

Inside is the Scottish Football Museum, Europe's first national football museum, where the Scottish Cup is kept: first won in 1874, it is the oldest national football trophy in the world. Stadium tours of an hour or more take you behind the scenes, and booking ahead is essential.
