Welcome

Every neighbourhood deserves a bookshop like Mount Florida Books, a green-fronted shop on Cathcart Road that opened in 2021 after the people of the South Side helped to crowdfund it.

Inside you'll find a carefully chosen mix of novels and novellas, graphic novels, essays and life writing, history and science, with plenty for children and teenagers too, and a corner of notebooks, cards, candles and gifts for anyone you're buying for. It's a busy little hub as well as a shop, with a writing group, a fiction book club, a reading circle and evenings with authors in conversation through the year, so have a look at what's on before you visit. It's a few minutes' walk from Hampden Park, so it makes a good stop before a match or a concert, and there are cafés on the same street. The shop is open every day, from 11am on weekdays and Sundays and from 10am on Saturdays.
