Welcome

Archipelago Bakery is a small bakery and café on Dundas Street, in the New Town, behind a grey-green shopfront with its name painted in red above the door.

Everything starts with the bread: sourdough, focaccia and soda bread are baked fresh, alongside pastries, sweet buns and cakes on the counter, with homemade soups and salads at lunchtime. It's open for breakfast and coffee from 8am on weekdays, and on a dry day there are bright pink tables and chairs out on the pavement for sitting in the sun. Dundas Street runs downhill from the New Town towards Canonmills, past The Scottish Gallery, so it makes an easy stop on a gentle walk down to Stockbridge or the Water of Leith. Pick up a loaf for later while you're there. It's open every day, from 8am to 4.30pm on weekdays, 8am to 5pm on Saturday and 9am to 4pm on Sunday.
