Welcome

On Hanover Street, between George Street and Queen Street, a dark blue front with its name in small letters leads down a few steps into Urban Angel, a New Town brunch cafe that has fed the neighbourhood for years.

Brunch is the reason to come. The plates are generous and colourful, with eggs every way, from Benedict to baked eggs in their dish, sweetcorn fritters, stacks of pancakes and halloumi burgers, and there are soups, salads and sandwiches for lunch. The coffee is good, and the counter is set out with cakes for later in the day. The rooms below the street are bright and relaxed, with pale wood, a long counter and a stove for colder mornings.

Urban Angel opens every day from half past eight until the afternoon. The kitchen closes an hour before the cafe does.
