Cardinal
A tasting menu restaurant on Eyre Place led by the chef patron Tomás Gormley, cooking Scottish produce, more and more of it from its own kitchen garden in Midlothian.
Cardinal is a dark, intimate dining room on Eyre Place, on the Canonmills side of Stockbridge, led by the chef patron Tomás Gormley.
It serves seasonal tasting menus built around Scottish produce, and more and more of it now comes from the restaurant's own kitchen garden, a regenerative smallholding at Bramblewood Farm in Pathhead, Midlothian, where tomatoes, courgettes, beetroot, salad leaves, herbs and flowers are grown for the kitchen. The tasting menu is served at every lunch and dinner, there's a longer Full Cardinal Experience for a special evening, and a market menu at lunch from Thursday to Saturday is built around whatever the garden sends in. It's in the Michelin Guide and rated Very Good by the Good Food Guide. Cardinal opens for dinner on Wednesday and for lunch and dinner from Thursday to Saturday. Book a table online, and if the time you want has gone, send them an email and they'll do their best to fit you in.
