Welcome

Singapore Coffee House is a little kopitiam, the traditional coffee shop of Singapore, at Canonmills on the way down to the Water of Leith.

It was started by Dylan, who is half Singaporean, and it's kept deliberately small, with a handful of tables, no bookings and orders taken at the counter. Breakfast is the thing here. There's kaya toast with soft-boiled eggs seasoned with soy and white pepper, flaky roti canai with curry sauce, nasi lemak, and a murtabak with a Scottish twist, stuffed with haggis, onion and egg. Curry puffs are made fresh every morning, and the coffee is Nanyang kopi, strained through a cotton cloth, or teh tarik if you'd rather tea. Food is served all day until it runs out, with lunch specials at the weekend. It's open every day until half past three, and small dogs are welcome, so it's easy to pair with a walk round the Botanics.
