The Little Chartroom
Chef Roberta Hall-McCarron's restaurant on Bonnington Road in Leith, with set menus of seasonal Scottish cooking and a place in the Michelin Guide.
For a special meal in Leith, The Little Chartroom is a gorgeous choice.
It's the restaurant of chef Roberta Hall-McCarron, on Bonnington Road beside its sister Ardfern, and it's where her cooking of Scottish produce through the seasons is at its most ambitious. Dinner is a set menu of three or five courses, with matched wines if you like. A recent one began with Shetland mussels, bacon and Arbroath Smokie, went on to Logiealmond partridge with truffle, celeriac and damson, and finished with a spiced rum baba and roast vanilla chantilly. From Friday to Sunday there's a three-course lunch too, and the same menu is served early on Thursday, Sunday and Monday evenings, which suits a night at the theatre. The restaurant is in the Michelin Guide, and Roberta's cookbook, The Changing Tides, gathers the same seasonal cooking for home. It opens Thursday to Monday and booking is through its own site, so plan ahead and make an evening of it.

Open for dinner Thursday to Monday, and for lunch Friday to Sunday; closed Tuesday and Wednesday.
