On the 28th of September, An Tobar and Mull Theatre opens its doors to the world premier Night Waking—a one‑woman stage adaptation of Sarah Moss’s novel, written by Shireen Mula and directed by Rebecca Atkinson‑Lord. Nicola Jo Cully performs as Anna Bennett, a sleep‑deprived historian and mother on a remote Hebridean island. As her husband studies puffins and her child finds something buried in the garden, Anna’s past and present collide. The piece interweaves modern domestic life with historical letters, exploring motherhood, inherited silences, and Scotland’s colonial legacies. Following its debut on Mull, the production travels to venues across the country from late September to October.
