The garden began in 2010.
It was set up as part of a drive across Scotland to act on climate change: food grown here does not have to travel to get here.

A community garden's self-service shop on the lighthouse road out of Kilchoan, selling its own vegetables by honesty box.
The West Ardnamurchan Community Garden lies at Sonachan, about three miles out of Kilchoan on the lighthouse road, and beside it stands a small wooden shop with its sign painted on the side: Community Garden Shop, fresh veg, fruit and flowers, snacks and drinks, plants and gifts.
The garden began in 2010, part of a Scotland-wide move for communities to act on climate change. Growing food here, on a remote peninsula, cuts the miles it travels and the carbon it costs, and the garden encourages others to grow their own too. The fruit and vegetables are grown organically and sold fresh in season from the roadside shop, which is self-service: choose what you want and pay in the honesty box. There is often a chalkboard of what came out of the ground that day. The garden's produce also goes to the regular produce markets in Kilchoan. It makes a good stop on the way to or from the lighthouse.
Arrives at 5am every day.
