At the far end of the long road across Ardnamurchan, the lighthouse's old stable block has been turned into the reception for its visitor centre, a small shop and a cafe.

After the drive out, it is a welcome sight.

Inside, round tables stand on the original cobbled floor between thick stone walls hung with pictures. The cafe serves coffee, tea and home baking, with a warm welcome and views outside.

The cafe opens from Tuesday to Sunday, from ten until half past four, and is closed on Mondays. It goes well with a climb up the lighthouse tower or a visit to the exhibitions, and the white sands of Sanna and Portuairk are only a few miles away.
