Home Farm

Home Farm sits within the main grounds of Glenkindie Estate, a working Donside estate on the edge of the Cairngorms National Park where guests are free to wander, with salmon and trout fishing available on the estate's own stretch of the River Don. The cottage has been redesigned throughout, and the result leans farmhouse rather than showroom: an Everhot range and Belfast sink in the kitchen, a big farmhouse table for long dinners, deep sofas in the living room and open shelving stocked with books and games.

It sleeps six across three bedrooms, two with super-king beds and a third made up as twins or a super-king on request, each with patterned headboards and quality bedding chosen with some care. The two bathrooms carry the same thinking, finished with heritage fittings and patterned tiling. The main one upstairs has a roll-top bath and a rainfall shower, and there's a separate shower room downstairs, which earns its keep when six of you come back muddy at once. Outside, the enclosed garden gives you a private spot for meals in the open air, and it means the dogs can potter safely too. Up to two are welcome.

Glenkindie sits in Strathdon in west Aberdeenshire, well placed for both Donside and Royal Deeside, with Kildrummy Castle's ruins a few minutes away and the Lecht ski centre up the glen. Home Farm's neighbours on the estate include Chapelton, Dalgrassick, Greenstyle and Tornahatnach, so larger gatherings can take more than one cottage.
