Tarland Tearooms

A village tearoom on the square in Tarland for breakfasts, homemade soup, paninis and toasties, and a counter of fresh cakes, open Thursday to Monday.

On the square in Tarland, the village in the Howe of Cromar north of Aboyne, a cream-painted cottage with a bright green sign is home to Tarland Tearooms.

It was once Angie's Café, and it is a warm, friendly place with quick service.

The menu is simple, homemade and good value: breakfasts with tea and toast refilled, soups such as broccoli and Stilton, paninis and toasties for lunch, and a counter of fresh cakes that is hard to choose from. After a walk, there is a tray of assorted cakes to share. A ramp can be put out at the door for a wheelchair.

It opens from Thursday to Monday. Tarland is a gentle place to stop between Deeside and Donside, and Tomnaverie stone circle stands on its hill just outside the village, with Loch Kinord and its carved Pictish cross a short drive south.
