  1. Tullynessle Deer Farm

    Tullynessle Deer Farm

The farm raises red deer for venison and shows visitors round by appointment. On the guided walk you meet the herd, hear how deer are farmed through the year, handle a stag's antlers and, when conditions allow, feed the deer. You may spot a rare white deer among the reds. September to November is the rut, when the stags are with the herd and often heard roaring; from January to mid-April the calves are indoors and can be seen up close. The tour ends with a taste of the farm's venison, and there is venison to buy when the shop has it. Dress for a working farm and bring a change of shoes.
