Greenstyle is a renovated farmhouse at Kildrummy in Aberdeenshire, one of the Glenkindie estate’s cottages, and from its window seat you look across the fields to the ruins of Kildrummy Castle.

The open-plan living and dining room has a large farmhouse-style table, a fireplace to sit by and that window seat. There’s also a snug downstairs with its own wood-burning stove and a writing desk. The kitchen is built round a range cooker that runs on gas and electric, and upstairs are two king-size bedrooms and a double. The bathroom downstairs has a deep bath and a separate walk-in shower, and there’s a shower room upstairs. It sleeps six, with an enclosed garden, and it doesn’t take dogs.

Surrounded by fabulous views, with scenic walks straight from your door, you really can just stop and leave the world behind.

Greenstyle is at Kildrummy in Aberdeenshire (postcode AB33 8RA), one of the Glenkindie Estate’s cottages, and looks out over fields to Kildrummy Castle.

The estate sits on the edge of the Cairngorms National Park and the owners describe it as remote, so you will need your own car. The owners’ guest information names the Central Garage and Shop at Glenkindie and the Spar at Bellabeg, both open seven days, and supermarkets in Alford, Aboyne and Huntly; its distances are given for the Glenkindie end of the estate.
