Grampian Transport Museum

An independent transport museum in Alford, open for over forty years, with cars, motorbikes, buses, steam engines and more, open daily from spring to late October.

In the middle of Alford, beside the old railway station, the Grampian Transport Museum has been showing off the ways the North East has got about for more than forty years.

It is an independent museum and a charity, and welcomed over 33,000 visitors in its busiest year.

The halls are packed with cars, motorbikes, buses and steam engines, an award-winning collection that keeps changing, and through the season the museum runs events, family ride days and even drive-in cinema nights.

The building is fully accessible, dogs are welcome, and the little narrow-gauge Alford Valley Railway starts right next door, so the two make an easy day together. It opens daily from late March until late October.

Before you go

Open daily, 10am to 5pm, from late March to 26 October, closing at 4pm in October.

Adults £14, children £5, families from £27; dogs free. The Motorbites tearoom keeps shorter hours.
