eleanore
A small, family-run restaurant on Albert Place off Leith Walk, from the team behind The Little Chartroom, with set lunch and dinner menus.
eleanore is a small, family-run restaurant on Albert Place, just off Leith Walk, from the team behind The Little Chartroom and Ardfern, and it's one of the loveliest ways to eat well in Edinburgh without spending a fortune.
Lunch is two courses for £29 or three for £32, and dinner £39 or £45, from a short menu. A recent one began with oysters and English muffins with whipped cep butter, went on to coley with clams and langoustine bisque or duck breast with beetroot and plum, and ended with carrot cake choux. On Wednesday and Thursday evenings there's an early sitting at the lunch price, handy before a show. It opens Wednesday to Sunday, with Sunday lunch running into the afternoon, and tables can be booked up to 60 days ahead through its own site. It's in the Michelin Guide too. Children under five can't be seated, so keep it for a grown-up lunch or a night out.

Open Wednesday to Sunday for lunch, and Wednesday to Saturday for dinner; closed on Sunday evening, Monday and Tuesday.
Tables can be booked up to 60 days ahead.
