Welcome

The Sicilian Pastry Shop is a little family bakery on Albert Street, just off Leith Walk, and has been baking Italian cakes and pastries since 1979.

Franco Asiatico, a trained chef from the town of Sapri in southern Italy, took it over in 1995, and his son Umberto now runs the kitchen as head chef.

The glass counter holds cannoli and rum babas, choux pastries, fruit tarts, cheesecake slices, croissants and doughnuts, with arancini and calzone among the savouries if you're after something more filling. It's also the place to order a celebration or wedding cake. There's coffee too, and everything is to take away, so pick out a box and carry it up to the top of Calton Hill to enjoy with the view. They open at 8am, and mornings are when the counter is at its fullest.
