Welcome

Down a short flight of steps on Haddington Place, at the top of Leith Walk, a dark red front with THE COOKBOOK SHOP painted above the door is Scotland's only bookshop given over entirely to cooking.

It was founded by Martyn and Liz Bryson, a couple with long careers in editing and publishing, as a home for good books about food and a place for people who love them.

The shelves run from new cookbooks by chefs and home cooks to books on baking, drink, food history and travel, set out in a room of pale wood and warm light, with a table of new arrivals in the middle and a few jars and good things for the kitchen. It holds events too, for anyone who loves food and books.

The Cookbook Shop opens from Wednesday to Sunday. It sits a few doors from McNaughtan's and Typewronger Books, so a morning of browsing is easily made.
