Edinburgh
Edinburgh Playhouse
Introduction
The one and only. The Playhouse is the largest working theatre in the UK, its three levels holding more than 3,000 seats. Expect big-name musicals and big-budget plays. The venue is Grade I listed and was inspired by New York’s Roxy Cinema.
The second largest theatre in the UK is the Edinburgh Playhouse, housed inside a Category-A Listed Building. Opened as a cinema in 1929, the theatre hosts a variety of musicians and theatre shows throughout the year, as well as being used as a venue during the Fringe Festival. It’s also rumoured to be haunted by a former stagehand.
