Tigh na Coille is a 19th-century manse on the Aldourie Castle estate near Dores, high on the hillside above Loch Ness, with views over the water to the 400-year-old castle.

WildLand has restored it for eight, in four double bedrooms, each done in its own way. There are four-poster beds and a room papered in leaves and birds, and a roll-top bath stands under the bathroom window, looking out to the hills.

There's a big sitting room with an open fire, a dining room with a handmade table, and a kitchen with an AGA. Outside, the private garden has a terrace for eating under the trees and a Big Green Egg for the cooking, and paths lead from it through the woods and down to the loch. Dogs are welcome.

We wish to restore our parts of the Highlands to their former magnificent natural state.

Where it is

Tigh na Coille is on the Aldourie Castle estate on the east shore of Loch Ness, near the village of Dores, a short drive south-west of Inverness.

The house stands above the rest of the estate on its own private driveway, with parking, and looks across woodland to the loch. Inverness has the shops and restaurants, and EV charging for cottage guests is at the Aldourie Castle Steadings.

Getting hereAldourie is at the north end of Loch Ness by the village of Dores, a short drive south-west of Inverness. Ivy Cottage is on the road to Dores, opposite the village school; South Bothy is at the end of the castle steadings, with parking nearby.
