Garden Cottage is a traditional Highland cottage on the northern edge of the Aldourie estate near Dores, sheltering in the greenery of Aldourie Castle's old kitchen garden at the north end of Loch Ness.

It has been gently restored with a touch of Scandinavian calm, for six. There are three double bedrooms, one of which can be twinned, with an en-suite shower room, and the main bathroom has hand-printed wallpaper and a roll-top bath. The light-filled kitchen and dining room and the cosy sitting room each have a log-burning stove. Step out to the kitchen garden, the Victorian glasshouses, the orchard and the wildflower meadow, then walk down to the loch shore. Dogs are welcome, and the estate's chefs will deliver a cottage supper, ready to warm.

We wish to restore our parts of the Highlands to their former magnificent natural state.

Where it is

Garden Cottage is on the northern edge of the Aldourie estate by the village of Dores, at the north end of Loch Ness and a short drive south-west of Inverness.

It looks out over the kitchen garden, with the orchard and meadow around it.

Getting hereAldourie is at the north end of Loch Ness by the village of Dores, a short drive south-west of Inverness. Ivy Cottage is on the road to Dores, opposite the village school; South Bothy is at the end of the castle steadings, with parking nearby.
