The Black Isle Brewery – a Farm Brewery Tour and Lunch
A few hours.
The route
The Black Isle Brewery makes its organic beers on a working farm on the Black Isle, just north of Inverness, and it shows visitors round the brewhouse.
In Inverness, its own bar on Church Street pours them from 26 taps, with wood-fired pizzas made from the farm's produce.

About three hours

Black Isle Brewery
The Black Isle Brewery is at Old Allangrange, near Munlochy, where the beer is brewed on the brewery's own organic farm. Tours take you behind the scenes in the brewhouse, between 10am and 3.30pm, Monday to Saturday all year and on Sundays from May to September. The brewery is shut on Sundays from October to April, so ring the shop on 01463 811871 to check a time before you go. The small shop sells the current beers and the brewery's own things. Its organic market garden, which grows vegetables and herbs for the brewery's bars, is a hundred metres away, and visitors are welcome to look in. Whoever drives should skip the tasting and take a few cans home from the shop, or come by taxi.
6 min on foot

Black Isle Bar
Lunch
Drive 14 minutes from the brewery into Inverness to the Black Isle Bar at 68 Church Street, the brewery's own bar. Park in the council's Rose Street multi-storey beside the bus station, 6 minutes' walk away, on levels 3 to 10: £3 for up to two hours, £3.50 for up to four, paid on the way out. The bar has 26 taps of Black Isle and other craft beers, alcohol-free drinks and wood-fired pizzas. It opens every day from noon, and families and dogs are welcome.
If it rains
The tour is indoors and so is lunch; in rain, skip the walk to the market garden.
