Welcome

On the corner of Fraser Street and Bank Street, facing the River Ness, an old church has become a restaurant.

The Mustard Seed opened here in 2001, and the building is half the pleasure.

Inside, the old church rises to a double-height ceiling, with a gallery above the main room, tall windows and a great open log fire, and many of the original features kept alongside wood and modern finishes. On the top floor, a terrace lets you eat outdoors in summer with a clear view along the river.

The cooking is simple and generous, built on fresh, seasonal Highland produce: salmon and sea bass, fillet of beef and whatever is best that week, with a menu that borrows from across Europe. There is lunch, an early evening menu and dinner, every day of the week. Book for dinner, and ask for the terrace on a fine evening.
