Gate Lodge

Gate Lodge is a historic granite and limestone cottage dating back to 1788, nestled in the beautiful woods of the Mayen Estate. Lovingly restored to an impeccable standard, it combines heritage charm with modern comforts, including underfloor heating throughout, a wood-burning stove and beautiful antique furnishings.

The open-plan kitchen and living area is designed for slow living and escaping the outside world. The fully equipped kitchen includes a dishwasher, washer-dryer, fridge freezer and range cooker. The cosy living space features a dining area overlooking rolling green countryside, while the luxurious reading nook, with chaise sofa, wood-burning stove and Smart TV, is perfect for relaxing evenings.

The beautifully decorated bathroom features heritage fittings, underfloor heating and a walk-in shower. The sumptuous bedroom has a king-size bed dressed in luxurious Beaumont & Brown British cotton linens, complemented by blackout curtains for a peaceful night's sleep. A unique roll-top bath sits beside full-length glass folding doors, which open onto the patio and surrounding nature—perfect for morning coffee accompanied by birdsong.

Outside, enjoy an Ooni gas-fired pizza oven and Kamado charcoal barbecue. The beautifully restored gardens, filled with English roses and wildflowers, lead to a private sauna and outdoor Scandinavian bath in the woods, ideal as either a cold plunge or warm soak surrounded by nature.

We provide towels, cookware, crockery, bedding, firewood, kindling, firelighters, pizza oven gas, dressing gowns and coffee beans. We recommend bringing sandals for the sauna area. Gate Lodge also benefits from central heating, high-speed fibre Wi-Fi and a private driveway.
