Butlers Cottage

Its two bedrooms have artist-painted box beds, one a double and the other a double with a single bunk above, reached by a wooden ladder. The open-plan kitchen and living room has an electric range cooker, a family-sized table and a wood-burning stove with unlimited logs, and there's a second stove in the main bedroom. Out in the fenced garden there's a wood-fired hot tub for two overlooking the valley, a kamado barbecue, a pizza oven and a fire pit, with squirrels and birds visiting while you eat outside. Walk through the estate's arboretum and old rock gardens to the river, and bring one medium-sized, well-behaved dog if you like.
