Dean's of Huntly

The home of Dean's shortbread, with a bright bistro and a shop beside the bakery.

Welcome

Dean's shortbread began with Helen Dean, baking at home in Huntly, and her melt-in-the-mouth shortbread grew into a business known far beyond Huntly.

Huntly is still its home, and the visitor centre on Depot Road sits beside the bakery where the shortbread is made.

The bistro is a bright, airy room serving full breakfasts, soup, light bites, jacket potatoes, burgers and paninis, with vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free choices throughout, and a counter of home bakes made in their own kitchen. The afternoon tea is the thing to book, a stand of sweet and savoury treats with refills of tea or coffee, and it needs forty-eight hours' notice.

The shop next door carries the whole range of shortbread and biscuits, along with a big choice of Scottish gifts, and it is where most people fill a bag to take home. Huntly Castle and the Deveron are a few minutes away, which makes a good morning of it.
