The Royal George Hotel on the Tay in Perth is to be refurbished by Buzzworks, with a new pub, and reopen later in 2027.

The hotel by Perth Bridge has been welcoming guests for more than 250 years. It stays open as it is until the sale completes in January, then closes for the work.

Come in through the boot room, where the wet coats, wellies and fishing rods go, and you're in one big room with a vaulted kitchen, a wood burner and dining for ten. The main bedroom opens onto a patio looking over the countryside.

Fairygreen Cottage, at Kinrossie near Perth, stands on a farm where local legend has fairies dancing in the moonlit meadows.

Fairygreen Cottage was built in 1872 for the stockman of the Dunsinnan estate, and it stands on Fairygreen Farm at Kinrossie, near Perth. The estate's big hill is Dunsinane, the one in Shakespeare's Macbeth, and its name has more than one meaning in Gaelic. One is 'hill of the ants', probably for the number of people it took to build the Iron Age fort on its top. Another is 'fort of the fairy hills', and that ties in with a local legend of fairies dancing in the moonlit meadows of Fairygreen Farm. The cottage has been restored for four, with the Sidlaw hills outside its windows.
