Outlander and film location tours

Outlander's castles, the Glenfinnan Viaduct from Harry Potter, and Alnwick's Hogwarts.

Scotland has been the backdrop for plenty of films and series, and some tours are made for fans. The Outlander day from Edinburgh visits Culross, Doune Castle and Blackness Castle, with Midhope, Lallybroch in the series, in summer. Harry Potter fans head to the Glenfinnan Viaduct, which the Hogwarts Express crosses in the films, and on the longest Skye tour you can add a ride over it on the Jacobite steam train. Alnwick Castle in Northumberland, Hogwarts in the early films, is a day out from Edinburgh.

How we choose

We say how long is spent on the road

Every tour shows when you leave, when you're back and how many hours are on the road, worked out on our own road maps. A long coach day isn't for everyone, and it's better to know before you book.

We say exactly where you meet

Each tour gives the meeting point, the time to be there and a map, so the morning starts calmly.

We say who runs it

You book with the company that runs the tour, and every tour shows who they are and how to reach them.

Questions people ask

Do any tours visit the Harry Potter viaduct?

Yes. The Glenfinnan tours from Edinburgh, Glasgow and Inverness all stop at the Glenfinnan Viaduct, and on the four-day Skye tour, from May to September, you can add a ride over it on the Jacobite steam train.

Not sure which to choose?

Tell us where you’re starting and what you’d love to see, and we’ll find the tour that suits you.
