Loch Ness, the Glenfinnan Viaduct and the Road to the Isles to Mallaig, all from Inverness.

This day packs in a lot of the west. Leaving Inverness, you stop for photographs of Urquhart Castle on Loch Ness, pass the Commando Memorial at Spean Bridge and spend time at Glenfinnan, with its viaduct and monument. Then it's west on the Road to the Isles, past white beaches and views of the Small Isles, to the fishing port of Mallaig for lunch. On the way home you stop at Fort Augustus, walk to the Falls of Foyers and finish at Dores Beach. It's a long day, back at about 6.45pm, but the scenery is outstanding.
