Rosslyn Chapel, the Borders abbeys and a whisky distillery, an easy day with little time on the road.

This is a lovely, unhurried day just south of Edinburgh. You start at Rosslyn Chapel, famous for its carvings and for The Da Vinci Code, then drive into the Borders to Melrose and its abbey ruins, where the heart of Robert the Bruce is said to be buried. Scott's View, the hilltop Sir Walter Scott loved, is the photo stop before the last visit of the day, Glenkinchie Distillery in East Lothian. It's back at 5.30pm with only about three hours of driving.
