Isle of Skye tours

The Old Man of Storr, the Fairy Pools and Eilean Donan, in a day from Inverness or Portree, or over two to four days.

Skye is the island everyone wants to see, and it's further than it looks. From Inverness you can reach it in a long day, crossing by Eilean Donan Castle and the Skye Bridge to Portree and the Trotternish coast. If you're coming from Edinburgh or Glasgow, a tour of two to four days is far better than a day, with nights in Portree and time for the Fairy Pools, Dunvegan Castle and the Quiraing. And if you're already staying on Skye, the day tours from Portree save you the single-track roads.

How we choose

We say how long is spent on the road

Every tour shows when you leave, when you're back and how many hours are on the road, worked out on our own road maps. A long coach day isn't for everyone, and it's better to know before you book.

We say exactly where you meet

Each tour gives the meeting point, the time to be there and a map, so the morning starts calmly.

We say who runs it

You book with the company that runs the tour, and every tour shows who they are and how to reach them.

Questions people ask

Can you visit the Isle of Skye in a day?

From Inverness, yes: the day tour to Skye and Eilean Donan Castle leaves at 8am and is back at about 8pm. From Edinburgh or Glasgow, Skye is better as a tour of two to four days with nights in Portree. If you're already staying on Skye, there are day tours from Portree.

Where do you stay on a tour of several days?

Rooms usually aren't included in the price of the longer tours. The company running the tour can often book a B&B or hotel on the route for you, and each tour's page says how it works and what it costs.
