Loch Ness tours

Urquhart Castle, the Caledonian Canal and the chance of a cruise on the loch, from Edinburgh, Glasgow or Inverness.

Loch Ness is the most famous loch in Scotland and one of the most visited places in the Highlands, and a tour is an easy way to get there. From Inverness it's a short, relaxed day, with Urquhart Castle on its headland, Fort Augustus and its locks, and the Falls of Foyers on the quieter south shore. From Edinburgh and Glasgow it's a much longer day that takes in Glencoe on the way, so look at the hours on the road before you choose. Most tours let you add a cruise on the loch when you book.

How we choose

We say how long is spent on the road

Every tour shows when you leave, when you're back and how many hours are on the road, worked out on our own road maps. A long coach day isn't for everyone, and it's better to know before you book.

We say exactly where you meet

Each tour gives the meeting point, the time to be there and a map, so the morning starts calmly.

We say who runs it

You book with the company that runs the tour, and every tour shows who they are and how to reach them.

Questions people ask

Can you see Loch Ness in a day from Edinburgh?

Yes. The Loch Ness tours from Edinburgh leave at 8am and come back at about 8.30pm, with Glencoe on the way, but most of that day is spent on the road. If you'd rather have a gentler day at the loch, Inverness is only twenty minutes from Loch Ness and its tours are back by 5.30pm.

Where do tours from Inverness leave from?

Each tour's page gives its meeting point, with a map and the time to be there. Many leave from Railway Terrace, beside the station.

Is entry to castles and distilleries included?

Usually not. Castle tickets, cruises and distillery tastings are extras you add when you book, or pay on the day, and each tour's page lists them with their prices.
