Tongue
Burr’s of Tongue
Introduction
Burr’s of Tongue sits on the A838 at the northern edge of Tongue, a restored village trading post with deep roots in daily life on the north coast. Historically home to Burr’s Store, the building once operated as a bakery, tearoom, travelling shop and transport hub, serving the surrounding community in several practical ways. After falling into poor condition, it has been carefully restored by Wildland, giving the original building a renewed purpose without losing its local character. Today, Burr’s of Tongue includes garage services and a growing community space, with Alba Bakery bringing coffee and baked goods to the site. Led by Abby Hart, the bakery opened softly in April, with plans for the offering to grow over the coming months. For anyone travelling through Tongue or following the NC500, it offers food, history and local use in one renewed village building.
