Introduction
A small coastal village with a remarkable place in Scottish history, Tongue is on the eastern shore of the Kyle of Tongue. Though it doesn’t take its name from the water (reportedly), the village was a crossroads between land controlled by Vikings, Gaels and Picts and was the setting for a sea battle between the Royal Navy and the Jacobites in the 18th century.
