Norse Bakehouse

A family-run bakehouse and café on the A836 at Rhitongue, east of Tongue, baking focaccia and pizzas on site, with garden tables looking out over the north coast.

Welcome

A few minutes east of Tongue, where the A836 runs along the high ground above the coast, the Norse Bakehouse is one of the best-placed lunch stops on the whole north coast.

It is a family-run place, and the baking is done on the premises.

The focaccia is what people talk about: thick, soft and full of flavour, split and filled for sandwiches, with a pulled jackfruit one for anyone not eating meat. There are pizzas too, and to finish, homemade lemon cheesecake or apple pie, with good coffee or a glass of wine.

Inside, the room is tall and bright, with green panelling and strings of lights, but on a fine day the garden is the place to be, with tables looking out over the moor to the sea. There is a small gift shop, dogs are welcome inside and out, and it opens every day from eleven until six.
