Lairg
Introduction
Lairg is located at the end of Loch Shin in Sutherland. If you are planning on touring the Highlands this would be a good stopping point and base for you to explore around this area. Although it is technically a village it has restaurants, shops, hotels, B&Bs and caravan parks and perhaps most importantly a railway station. If you are taking the NC500 route just turn off the A9 at The Mound. Things to do in this area include trout fishing, walking & cycling trails, birdwatching, the Falls of Shin, archaeological gems including Neolithic cairns and Iron Age brochs and of course enjoying the spectacular views across Loch Shin and Strath Fleet.
