Loch Eriboll
Introduction
Loch Eriboll sits amid the mountainous heart of North West Sutherland. It is about a mile wide mostly although wider where it reaches the sea. Ard Neakie is its most interesting feature. This is almost an island however it has a link to the east shore made up of sand and shingle. It has 4 large lime kilns which were built in 1870 to produce lime which was then loaded onto ships.
On the west side of the loch you will find the little crofting township of Laid and on the east Eriboll. The east side is higher with some spectacular views of Cranstackie, Beinn Spionnaidh, Foinaven and Arkle. Choraidh Farm Park is on the west side of the loch and well worth a visit. It is home to more than 40 breeds of animal, houses a crofting museum and has a lovely tea room.
